Terms and Conditions

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you must cancel your registration, all requests must be received by the Local Organizing Committee via e-mail at office@aaot2021.org or faxed to +82-70-4179-6950 no later than October 10, 2021.
All fees paid will be refunded minus a $50.00 processing fee. No refunds will be available on or after October 11, 2021.

Chapter 1: General Provisions

Article 1 (Purpose)
These terms and conditions are intended to define the conditions and procedures of use for all services provided by the Korean Academy of Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine (hereinafter referred to as the “Academy”), including rights, obligations, responsibilities, and other necessary matters.
Article 2 (Effect of and Changes to the Terms and Conditions)
(1) All services provided by the 2021 20th Scientific Meeting website (hereinafter referred to as the “homepage”) (http://aaot2021.org/) are conditional on the user agreeing to the contents of these terms and conditions, which are necessary for the service provisions of the homepage and the user's utilization of the service.
(2) The Academy reserves the right to change these terms and conditions without prior notice in the event of a reasonable cause, at which time the changes will be made available on the Academy homepage or sent to the users via e-mail and will be effective immediately.
(3) If the user does not agree to any changes made to the terms and conditions, the user may cancel his/her Scientific Meeting registration (withdrawal of registration). If the user continues to use the homepage without expressing his/her intention to refuse the changes within seven days of the date of the change, it is deemed that he/she agrees to the changes made to the terms and conditions.
(4) Agreeing to these terms and conditions means that the user agrees to visit the Academy homepage on a regular basis to check for any changes to the terms and conditions. The Academy is not responsible for any damage to the user that results from the user not being aware of any changes made to the terms and conditions.
Article 3 (Matters Not Covered in these Terms and Conditions )
(1) Matters not specified in these terms and conditions shall be governed by the Telecommunications Basic Act, the Telecommunications Business Act, the Deliberation Regulations of the Korean Internet Safety Commission, the Information Communication and other related laws.
Article 4 (Definition of Terms)
The definitions of the terms used in these terms and conditions are as follows: (1) “User” refers to a person who, after providing personal information, has access to the services provided by the homepage in accordance with these terms and conditions.
(2) “Sign up” or “Registration” refers to the act of completing the service use contract by entering the relevant information in the application form provided by the homepage and agreeing to these terms and conditions
(3) “ID” refers to a combination of letters and numbers selected by the user for user identification on the Academy homepage that permits access to the services provided by the homepage
(4) “Password” refers to a combination of letters and numbers selected by the user to verify that the user is the one registered on the homepage and to protect the user’s personal information.
(5) ‘Withdrawal’ refers to the act of the user terminating the contract.

Chapter 2: Use Agreement

Article 5 (Establishment of the Use Agreement)
(1) The use agreement is established when the applicant agrees to the terms and conditions of the Academy homepage and completes his/her registration by entering the information required in the prescribed registration application for the 2021 20th Scientific Meeting.
(2) The user agrees to these terms and conditions by checking the checkbox that states “I agree to the terms and conditions on the homepage” on the relevant page of the homepage.
Article 6 (Application for Service Use)
(1) Applicants who wish to use the services of the homepage can only access these services after signing up as a user by providing the information requested on the homepage, which includes the user’s name, affiliation, contact number, e-mail, and health care practitioner license number (hereinafter referred to as “license number”).
(2) All users must provide their name, affiliation, contact number, e-mail, and license number, which are required for identification before use of the services provided by the homepage. In the case of a user registering with a name that is not the user’s legal name, the user may be restricted from accessing the service.
(3) Registering for the 20th Scientific Meeting is only possible when using one’s legal name.
(4) The ID of a user who registers using someone else's name (or license number) may be deleted without prior notice, and the user may be subject to punishment in accordance with relevant laws.
Article 7 (Protection and Use of Personal Information)
(1) The Academy implements a personal information handling policy to protect the personal information of service users, as stipulated by related laws. The relevant laws and the Academy's personal information handling policy are applied for the use and protection of users’ personal information. However, the Academy does not take responsibility for the release of users’ personal information for reasons attributable to the user.
(2) The user’s personal information on the homepage is used, managed, and protected as follows: 1. Use of personal information: the homepage does not disclose or distribute users’ personal information that is collected in connection with the provision of services to third parties without the user’s consent. However, if there is a request from a national agency in accordance with the provisions of laws such as the Telecommunications Basic Act, a request for investigation of a crime, a request from the Korean Internet Safety Commission, a request according to the procedures stipulated in other related laws, or if the user discloses the personal information provided to the homepage by himself/herself, this does not apply.
2. Protection of personal information: only the user can view, modify, or delete his/her personal information, which is primarily managed by the user's ID and password. Therefore, users must not share their ID and/or password with others and must log out of the homepage and close the web browser window when they have finished using the service.
(3) When a user signs up on the homepage and agrees to these terms and conditions, it is deemed that the user agrees to the collection and utilization of the personal information provided during the application process.
Article 8 (Application for Use Authorization and Restrictions)
(1) The Academy authorizes the use of the service to the applicant pursuant to the provisions described in Article 6 providing that there is no business performance or technology-related issue.
(2) The Academy will not authorize the following types of cases: 1. If someone else's name or a name that is not the user’s legal name is used on the registration application
2. If false information is used on the registration application
3. For acts such as interfering with another person's use of the homepage service or stealing personal information
4. If the homepage is used to conduct an act prohibited by law and/or these terms and conditions
5. If the Academy’s application requirements are not satisfied
(3) If any of the following subparagraphs apply during the registration application process, the Academy may withhold authorization until the reason for the restriction is resolved. 1. If the homepage does not have sufficient web operating facilities
2. If there is a problem with the Academy homepage’s web operation technology
3. If authorizing the user’s application is difficult due to reasons attributable to the Academy
(4) If the registration application is not authorized or is restricted, the Academy must immediately notify the applicant.

Chapter 3: Rights and Obligations of Contracting Parties

Article 9 (Rights and Obligations of the Academy)
(1) The Academy must have a security system to protect users’ personal information so that users can safely use the service.
(2) The Academy is obligated to protect users' personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy established by the Academy. The Academy will not disclose or distribute users' personal information to others without the user’s consent. However, this does not apply in cases where there is a request from a related national organization in accordance with related laws, such as the Telecommunications Basic Act.
(3) Notwithstanding the provisions provided in Paragraph 2, if the Academy intends to use a user's personal information beyond the notified or specified range or intends to share it with a third party, the Academy must notify the user individually and obtain their consent.
(4) To provide an uninterrupted and stable service, the Academy will repair or restore facilities without delay when they are damaged. However, in the case of natural disasters, emergencies, or other unavoidable circumstances, the service may be suspended temporarily.
(5) The Academy shall immediately attend to suggestions or complaints raised by the users if they are deemed justifiable. However, if immediate processing is difficult, the users must be notified of the reason for the delay and be provided a processing schedule in writing, via e-mail, or by telephone.
(6) The Academy may use statistical data on all or part of the users' personal information with the prior consent of the user in relation to business and may transmit cookies to the user's computer through the service. A cookie is a small amount of information transmitted by the homepage server to the user's computer that contains information on the homepage visited and the user's personal information necessary to verify the service provision. Users have the option of installing cookies. The user can accept all cookies, check each time a cookie is saved, or refuse to save all cookies through the setting options in the web browser. However, if the user refuses to store cookies, it may be difficult for the user to access some services that require login.
Article 10 (Users’ Rights and Obligations)
(1) Applicants must accurately fill in the required information when registering for the 20th Scientific Meeting. In addition, the provided information must be updated to maintain accuracy.
(2) Users shall not allow third parties to use their ID and/or password.
(3) In accordance with these terms and conditions, users cannot transfer or donate their status to others on the homepage and cannot provide them as collateral.
(4) Users cannot use all or part of the contents and functions of the service without the Academy’s prior consent.
(5) Users cannot engage in profit-making activities using the service without the Academy’s explicit prior consent, and the Academy is not responsible for the consequences of violating this. Users are liable for damages sustained by the Academy in relation to such commercial activities.
(6) Users must not engage in the following acts when using the service: 1. Illegal use of another user's ID and password
2. Besides personal use, using the information obtained through the service for reproduction, performance, broadcasting, exhibition, distribution, publication, etc.
3. Infringing on the copyright of the Academy or a third party or posting, publishing, transmitting, or distributing content that infringes on the patents, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights of others
4. Acts that disadvantage others or damage their honor
5. Transmitting or posting content that violates the law or contract, that is, vulgar, obscene, insulting, threatening, or other such content that may infringe on the privacy of others
6. Distributing information, sentences, images, voice recordings, etc. that violate public order and others’ values
7. Posting or distributing advertisements, promotional materials, spam mail, or other forms of solicitation that are not approved by the homepage
8. Acts for the purpose of hacking or distributing computer viruses that cause malfunction of service-related facilities or the destruction or misrepresentation of information
9. Any act that interferes with or is likely to interfere with the stable operation of the homepage service
10. Acts committed for the purpose of criminal activity or in connection with criminal activity
11. Acts that violate other related laws
(7) Users must comply with the rules and regulations stipulated in these terms and conditions, in service use guidelines, or warnings and any rules and regulations announced or posted separately by the Academy.

Chapter 4 Use of Services

Article 11 (Service Use Hours)
(1) In the case of service interruption due to extenuating circumstances beyond the control of the Academy (a system failure or disk failure that is not the result of negligence or intention on the part of the system administrator, etc.), advance notice is impossible.
Article 12 (Security of User's Information)
(1) The user is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the information provided in the application from the moment the registration process is completed and is responsible for all consequences resulting from another person’s use of the user’s ID and password.
(2) All users are responsible for managing their own ID and password. If a user’s ID or password has been used illegally, it must immediately be reported to the homepage. The consequences associated with not reporting this information is the responsibility of the user himself/herself.
(3) The user must appropriately close the connection to the homepage each time the use of the homepage service is terminated. If a third party accesses information about the user as a result of the user not appropriately closing the connection to the homepage service, the Academy is not responsible for any damage or loss caused by the use of the information by the third party.
Article 13 (Management of Posts and Content)
(1) The Academy may delete, move, or refuse to allow the following types of posts and content without prior notice: 1. Content that is severely insulting to other users or third parties or damages their reputation
2. The distribution or linking of content that violates public order and/or is morally problematic
3. Posts that contain commercial, illegal, obscene, or vulgar content
4. Content that promotes illegal copying or hacking
5. Commercial advertisements
6. Content that is objectively recognized as being associated with a crime
7. Content that infringes on others’ rights, such as the copyrights of other users or third parties
8. Content that violates the posting principles stipulated by the Academy
9. Posts or content that violate other related laws
(2) The homepage of the Academy does not take responsibility for the reliability and accuracy of information or data posted by users on this service and is not responsible for the loss of profit or damages caused by the use of information posted by users.
Article 14 (Copyright of Posts)
(1) The user has the right to the content posted by the user.
(2) The user shall be solely responsible for any civil and criminal liability arising from the user's posts infringing on the copyrights of others.
(3) Users must not commercially use the data posted on the service, such as arbitrarily processing or selling information.
(4) The Academy may delete or move users’ posts or content without prior notice if the content posted by the user falls under any subparagraph of Article 13.
Article 15 (Provision of Information)
(1) The Academy may communicate necessary information to users via e-mail or by telephone.
Article 16 (Public Advertisements and Transactions with Advertisers)
(1) The part of the service investment base with which the Academy can provide services to the users comes from advertising revenue. The users therefore agree to have advertisements displayed while using the service.
(2) The Academy is not responsible for any loss or damage caused by users communicating or making transactions with advertisers posted on the service.

Chapter 5. Compensation for Damages and Other Matters

Article 17 (Scope and Claim for Damages)
(1) The homepage of the Academy does not bear any responsibility for any damage to the user in relation to services provided free of charge, except for intentionally committed criminal acts.
Article 18 (Exemptions)
(1) The Academy is exempted from responsibility for providing services if it is unable to due to natural disasters, war, or other extenuating circumstances.
(2) The Academy is exempted from liability in the event of damage caused by the telecommunication service being suspended or not provided as usual by the telecommunication service provider.
(3) The Academy is not responsible for any damages or obstacles to the use of the service for reasons attributable to the users.
(4) The Academy shall not be held responsible for any damage caused by an error associated with the user's computer or if the user provided incorrect personal information, including contact information and address.
(5) The Academy is not responsible for the accuracy of information, data, and facts posted by users on the service.
(6) The homepage does not bear any responsibility for goods or financial transactions between users or between users and third parties through the service.
(7) The homepage is not responsible for any damages caused to users that occur due to the user's intention or negligence in relation to the use of the service.
Article 19 (Jurisdiction and Dispute Mediation)
(1) Matters not specified in these terms and conditions shall be governed by related laws, such as the Telecommunications Business Act.
(2) In the event of a dispute between the Academy and the user in relation to the use of the service, the complaint cannot be filed unless the two parties have faithfully conferred to resolve the dispute.
(3) If a lawsuit is filed against a dispute arising from the use of the service, the court with jurisdiction over the location of the Academy shall be the competent court.

The copyright for these terms and conditions belongs to the Academy, and unauthorized duplication, distribution, transmission, or other copyright infringements are prohibited.
